Jessica Bouzas Maneiro manhandled Laura Tsurenko in the first qualification match on Sunday to the tune of 2 & 2. Now the Spaniard will play the underdog role against Magda Frech.

Frech is being offered at -175 at most major books and my first reaction to seeing those odds instantly put me on the underdog Maneiro. I am pocketing the +2.5 games on the handicap, although I was hoping to see a better price on the +3. 

At -128, that is out of my comfort range when it comes to our ROI, and you know me by now having never seen a line above -115 posted from yours truly. Why not take Maneiro to win outright at Betfair where the best line is at +150?

Maneiro will take a set from Frech, so it will be up to the Polish native to respond to that if she wants to advance to the main draw. The Over 2.5 Sets prop is +144 at Pinnacle, so your bonus bet of the day is on the +144 expecting a 3-set affair to go along with the +2.5 Handicap.

Maneiro will not intimidated as an underdog against Frech because the 21-year-old already has a nicer resume than Magda Frech. Jessica will see a step up in talent at a WTA1000 event but she got past Tsurenko and a win over Frech to reach the main draw is possible.

MAGDALENA FRECH RECENT FORM

Magda was up 6 – 2, 2 – 1 when Hailey Baptiste came up lame in the first qualifying match for the 50th-ranked Polish native. 

Frech was a win away from taking the Prague Open title but her teammate Magda Linette dashed those hopes before the Olympic Games began. Frech at the Olympics was a blip and that dream ended badly as a favorite against Viktoriya Tomova.

Magda is 14 – 10 on hardcourts this season and Frech had lost five of her last six games on the surface before being granted the win yesterday in Cincinnati.

JESSICA BOUZAS MANEIRO RECENT FORM

Jess is up to 77th in the rankings and the 21-year-old Spaniard is now comfortable enough to play in the big girls’ tournaments! 

Bouzas Maneiro has 12 titles to her credit at the ITF/Challenger level, three of which have been earned this year. No one will argue that being on clay is her thing, but being a regular on tour will mean learning how to play well on at least two surfaces.

Jess is 18 – 5 on hardcourts with a 41 – 16 record in 2024 from all three surfaces.
