Charlie Fellowes 8-y-o is consistent and reliable on all-weather surfaces, winning 4 of his 18 career starts in this sphere, and now features on a mark fully 5lb lower than his last winning one (over this course and distance back in January 2021). He showed he was still well capable despite advancing years when finishing second at Wolverhampton in November after 5 months off, and this represents quite a big class drop under new rider Rob Hornby.

Simon Dow’s 4-y-o remains a maiden after 14 career starts, but he has often shaped well in defeat round here and caught the eye over a mile last time out in a typically bunched Lingfield finish. A positive ride will be needed dropping back in trip to 7f, but his young claiming rider Paddy Bradley knows him well (and this looks a particularly weak Class 5 contest lacking progressive contenders).
