There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with a cracking jumps card at Leopardstown very much the highlight. The Grade 1s at 1.10pm and 1.45pm are likely to be dominated by Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott as usual, with Facile Vega likely to be a long odds-on favourite for the novice hurdle (as he continues his progress towards the Supreme Novice at the Cheltenham festival).

Andrew Martin’s scopey sort has been expensive to follow over hurdles this winter in some fairly competitive handicaps, but he has shaped better than the bare result on a couple of occasions and is worth chancing now switched to chasing at Leicester on Wednesday. He is a smooth traveller who will appreciate the better ground that usually prevails at this track over fences, and a clean round of jumping would make him hard to beat against largely opposable rivals.
Odds: NA
Crack du Ninian
Leicester 1:55 (UK time)
Jeannie Candlish’s handicapper has slipped down the weights after failing to cut much ice in three runs this season, and has optimum conditions to bounce back to his best in a modest looking class 4 handicap. A positive ride is on the cards from Sean Quinlan, and his typically sound jumping could have some of these out of their comfort zone from an early stage.
Odds: NA
