There are six meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with competitive flat racing dominating from Goodwood, Leicester, Redcar and Sandown. The second day of the “Glorious Goodwood“ meeting is very much the highlight, with high class Group action mixed with some fiendishly difficult handicaps for punters to solve. NH fans have the card at Perth to get studying, with the action getting underway at 2.10pm at the Scottish venue, while continuing Galway festival provides a cracking mixture of flat and jumps.

Richard Hannon has a typically strong hand in the juvenile division, and his scopey Mehmas colt looked a high class prospect when making all at Newbury last time out in a warm novice stakes (well backed 2/1f and in command at halfway under a confident ride). He drops back to a bare five furlongs here under Pat Dobbs as he steps up in class to Group 2 company, but has plenty of pace to cope with that and remains open to plenty more improvement after just two career starts.

Alan King’s scopey 3-y-o could only finish third at Newmarket last time out (well backed 11/2 chance in one of the most competitive contests of the week), but he shaped really well under a negative ride and can resume his progress here with Ryan Moore back in the saddle. He remains with loads of upside over these middle distances after just seven career starts, and has already proved himself on testing ground if the ominous weather forecasts are proved to be correct this week.
