There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with Catterick, Kempton (AW), Navan and Nottingham providing some competitive decent quality flat action to keep bookmakers and punters busy through to the evening. Jumping fans have an interesting card at Bangor to study, with the action getting underway at 2.05pm at the popular rural venue.

Alfa Moonstone
Catterick 2:50 (UK time)
Craig Lidster’s 2-y-o is a previous course and distance winner here in May, showing terrific early pace on quick ground to rout his rivals, and a return to this sharpest of five furlongs can see him bounce back to his best form under Sam James. He had little chance at 100/1 in listed company at Ayr last time out (soon in rear and never a factor), but will relish these calmer waters and can give weight away all round with drying underfoot conditions to suit.
Odds: NA
Ice Max
Catterick 3:50 (UK time)
Karl Burkr has enjoyed a fantastic summer, and his unexposed juvenile starts off into nurseries at Catterick on Wednesday from an attractive opening mark under Clifford Lee. He tanked through a warm listed Doncaster contest over 7f last time out, pulling hard and doing well to briefly threaten, and this sharper track looks the right call (with a CD win under his belt already (and plenty of improvement in the tank after just three career starts).
Odds: NA
