There are six meetings in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with competitive flat action keeping punters and bookmakers busy all through the afternoon and evening. Fixtures at Ascot, Brighton, Gowran Park, Kempton (AW), Pontefract and Wolverhampton (AW) provide mainly low grade handicaps for the off-course industry, but the recent drying mild weather should mean ground conditions start to improve across the country.

Ascot 2:05 (UK time)
Archie Watson does really well with his early season juveniles, and this Blue Point colt impressed when making a winning debut on the all-weather at Kempton last month (very well backed 11/10f and quickened smartly to assert). He should have no issue now switched to fast turf at Ascot on Wednesday, and has the scope to improve with that initial experience under his belt (in a contest where plenty are likely to need the run first time up).

Coltrane
Ascot 3:15 (UK time)
Andrew Balding has landed running as the flat season kicks up a gear, and his useful stayer is fancied to get the better of the short-priced favourite Trueshan in this valuable 2m Group 3 contest (who disappointed on seasonal debut and comes from a yard really struggling for winners at the moment). He has won 6 of his 11 career starts on the turf, improving as his stamina is drawn out upped to staying trips, and only has a head to find with his old rival on October running at this track.
Odds: NA
