There are seven scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with flat fans in for an informative afternoon as the second day of the York Dante meeting gets underway on quickening ground. They also have supporting cards at Bath, Limerick, Lingfield and Salisbury to study, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Surrey venue (with a massive crowd likely for one of their popular evening fixtures). Jumps fans have decent grade action to study at Clonmel, Fontwell and Perth, with the big field handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.

York 2.45 (UK time)
James Horton does well with a relatively small team of horses every summer, and his useful handicapper caught the eye on his reappearance in the Lincoln at Doncaster in April (staying on late having got outpaced when the pace lifted). He should relish this flat mile on quickening ground, and the unusual booking of Ryan Moore certainly increases confidence that he can bounce straight back from a lesser effort at Newbury last time out (wide trip with no cover).

York 4.15 (UK time)
Marco Botti’s sprinter pulled his chances away under restraint over six furlongs at Newcastle last time out, but has plenty of natural speed and ability when it can be channeled more efficiently. This drop back down to a fast five furlongs could suit now switched to the turf for the first time, and he can swoop late under a more patient ride from the red hot Oisin Murphy.
