The cold spell continues to take its toll on the racing fixture list this week, with only Ffos Las hopeful of going ahead over jumps on Thursday. They are joined by the all-weather fixtures at Chelmsford and Southwell, which at least provides some action to keep punters and bookmakers busy throughout the afternoon and evening.
In this article:
Fierce
Southwell 2:03 (UK time)
Gary Moore’s 2-y-o has shaped well on all five career starts so far in warm company, catching the eye on handicap debut last time out on really deep ground at Newbury. He has more inside than most of these exposed rivals, and showed the all-weather suited fine when third at Lingfield in August over this five furlong trip.
Odds: NA
Dapper Man
Southwell 2:33 (UK time)
Roger Fell’s 8-y-o has been a terrific servant over the years, winning no less than fourteen times, and he has now slipped down to a very lenient looking handicap mark if some of his old zest can be rekindled at this lowly level. He still has plenty of early pace at his disposal, and could take plenty of catching here if quickly away from the stalls under the promising 5lb claimer Jonny Peate.
Odds: NA
