There are six meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with the final day of the Craven fixture at Newmarket sure to attract the bulk of the betting interest. Group action and top level prize money is sure to attract runners from the top stables, and a sunny and warm weather forecast should mean a big midweek crowd is in attendance at HQ. Elsewhere, there is AW action at Chelmsford, while Cheltenham stages a competitive and classy jumping card. Away from Newmarket, flat turf fans have the cards at Ripon, Kilbeggan and Tipperary to study.

Charlie Appleby’s classy sprinter has won 6 of his 15 career starts to date, and rounded off a profitable season last year with a cracking third of 16 in the Group 1 Breeders Cup Turf Sprint at Keeneland in November. He seems sure to primed to make a winning reappearance in this valuable six furlong contest, and the rapidly quickening ground conditions have dramatically improved his chances under regular rider William Buick.

Karl Burke enjoyed a terrific season on the turf last year, and has assembled his strongest team ever to do battle with this time around (with this arrival from the Michael O’Callaghan yard reportedly working very well at home). A progressive juvenile, he was no match for Chaldean on his final two starts in strong company (thought to be a Group 1 performer by the Balding stable), and this looks a terrific opening on his seasonal reappearance, with the red hot Kevin Stott on board for the first time.
