There are 5 meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with two high class Grade 1s at Leopardstown very much the highlight (and testing ground likely across the board given the wet weather forecast through the week). There are supporting jump cards at Doncaster, Kelso and Limerick to get stuck into, while AW fans have a low grade Southwell fixture to study.
In this article:
Call of the Wild
Doncaster 12:45 (UK time)
Alan King’s useful hurdler has always been a chaser on looks, and he shaped well on his seasonal reappearance at Ascot in October (dropped out in a strong handicap and finished with running left in the tank). He is sure to have been immaculately prepared for this first run over fences, and the eased decent ground round this flat track should be ideal under the excellent Tom Cannon.
Odds: NA
Dublin Four
Doncaster 1:55 (UK time)
Fergal O’Brien’s three time winning chaser lost his chance with a bad blunder at Newbury last time out, and had shaped previously as though coming nicely to the boil when second at Wetherby in October (that form has been well franked since by Into Overdrive winning on Boxing Day). He is a sound jumper who needs a flat track and no extremes of ground, so the forecast good conditions should be his optimum under Kielan Woods.
Odds: NA
