There are six meetings in Britain and Ireland on a busy Thursday, with competitive flat racing dominating from Bath, Carlisle, Chelmsford (AW), Navan and Newcastle (AW). Jumping fans are in for an entertaining evening , with Stratford staging an interesting late summer card (with the action getting underway at 5pm as the nights draw in).

Rock of England
Carlisle 3:45 (UK time)
Ed Bethell’s handicapper has run really well in victory and defeat all summer until only sixth at Redcar last time out, but he had valid excuses there having been hammered in the market down to 11/4f (raced alone up the centre in rear and finished with running left in the tank from a poor position). He will relish the stiff uphill finish at Carlisle on Thursday, with drying ground ideal and regular rider Callum Rodriguez looking to weave his way through late off what seems sure to be a strong pace.
Odds: NA
Star of Lazise
Carlisle 4:15 (UK time)
Gemma Tutty’s juvenile colt has very much been a work in progress in six career starts so far, showing plenty more ability than previously when winning gamely at Newcastle on the AW last time out (coming from a poor position to assert late over seven furlongs). He now drops back to a stiff six furlongs which should suit (with plenty of pace on up front), and can improve past some more exposed rivals on turf under Callum Hutchinson.
Odds: NA
