Roger Varian’s frustrating handicapper shaped a lot better than the bare result at Newmarket last month last month, and can take advantage of a drop in class at Nottingham on Sunday (with his mark now generous on the best of last seasons form). The yard is beginning to hit peak form now after a slower than usual start, and the long straight on fast ground should make this a suitable test under David Egan.
