Today’s Horse Racing Tips January 22nd
There are three NH meetings on Sunday in Britain and Ireland (subject to inspections in the morning), with the final day of the Winter Millions festival sure to command the bulk of the betting interest at Lingfield. The Fleur de Leys Chase at 2.00pm looks like a cracker at the declarations stage, although leading Gold Cup contender Noble Yeates will now miss a very competitive renewal on the deep ground. Fakenham stages the other UK jumps fixture, with good prize money on offer as usual at the popular rural venue, while Thurles will hope to beat the freeze with a cracking card on deep ground. AW fans have an additional meeting at Newcastle to study (brought in given the continued freezing spell of weather).

Anthony Honeyball’s veteran 11-y-o mudlark has a terrific record when the ground rides really deep, and this represents his best chance yet this season after struggling in two Grade 2’s so far this winter. The yard had just hit top form before the big freeze intervened, and this small field on heavy ground should play to his strengths under regular rider Aidan Coleman.

Milton Harris has enjoyed a terrific season so far, and his progressive novice looks on a reasonable mark now venturing into handicap company for the first time at Lingfield on Sunday. The booking of the red hot Harry Cobden certainly increases confidence, and he proved his stamina for further in testing ground at Plumpton last time out over 2m5f (that could count for plenty over 2m3f here in really attritional conditions).
