There are four meetings in Britain and Ireland on Sunday, with competitive top class Group race action very much the order of the day at The Curragh on the flat (with Aidan O’Brien holding a typically strong hand). Jumping fans have the cards at Fontwell, Kelso and Uttoxeter to get stuck into, with drying ground expected and the emphasis very much on speed.
In this article:
Astroman
Fontwell 3:45 (UK time)
Syd Hosie has his team in excellent form for summer jumping, and his recently arrived hurdler improved when winning at Stratford earlier in the month (shade fortunate after a late faller). He can defy the handicapper at Fontwell on Sunday, with fast ground ideal (and an attacking ride from Harry Cobden likely to take these modest class 5 rivals out of their comfort zone round these unique turns)..
Odds: NA
Striking A Pose
Fontwell 2:40 (UK time)
Joe Tizzard’s chaser has proved very expensive to follow since winning at Exeter in November 2021, but he is now extremely well handicapped as a result and this drop back to 2m5f looks the right call (after again failing to stay three miles last time out). He had been hinting his turn was near at Huntingdon and Taunton previously, and a positive ride on fast ground could be on the cards here from Brendan Powell.
Odds: NA
