There are 7 races on ITV on Saturday, with the cameras covering the best of the jumping action from Cheltenham and Doncaster. The highlight of the afternoon comes at Prestbury Park, where the Grade 2 Unibet International hurdle should provide an early guide to the leading contenders for the Champion Hurdle in March (or, more accurately, whether any live dangers to the long odds-on superstar Constitution Hill will emerge).
At Doncaster, the best of the juveniles so far will lock horns in the Summit Hurdle at 1.30pm, while there are some cracking and valuable handicaps on both cards for the punters to get stuck into.
In this artice:
Knappers Hill
Cheltenham 2:25 (UK time)
Paul Nicholls progressive novice has really thrived this winter under some positive rides at Chepstow and Wincanton, and he can improve past more exposed rivals and land this Grade 2 under Harry Cobden. He is just the type to make up into a cracking chaser in time, but has really thrived since allowed to stride on from the front, and the decent ground expected at Prestbury Park on Saturday should suit ideally.
Odds: NA
Nina the Terrier
Cheltenham 3:35 (UK time)
Alan King’s mare caught the eye in the Greatwood here over two miles in November, racing wide throughout and briefly threatening to challenge moving smoothly into things down the hill behind I Like to Move It. That run was something of a confidence-restorer after a nasty fall, and the step back up in trip to 2m4f should suit ideally (ran really well over it when second at Newbury in April in a Grade 2 novice hurdle).
Odds: NA

Time (UK) | Track | Horse | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
1:30 | Doncaster | Nusret | Joseph O’Brien’s useful flat performer made the perfect start over hurdles when winning at Punchestown in November, and this listed prize at Doncaster looks the perfect opening to follow up under Daryl Jacob. |
1:50 | Cheltenham | Simply the Betts | Paul Nicholls handicapper probably needed the run when below par here in November, weakening from the last having suffered interference when briefly threatening to get into things coming down the hill. He will appreciate these drying ground conditions under David Maxwell, and has plenty of excellent course and distance form in the book last season. |
2:25 | Cheltenham | Knappers Hill | Paul Nicholls progressive novice has really thrived this winter under some positive rides at Chepstow and Wincanton, and he can improve past more exposed rivals and land this Grade 2 under Harry Cobden. He is just the type to make up into a cracking chaser in time, but has really thrived since allowed to stride on from the front, and the decent ground expected at Prestbury Park on Saturday should suit ideally. |
2:40 | Doncaster | Maninsane | Charlie Longsden is enjoying a purple patch at the moment, and his 7-y-o looked one to follow when winning at Huntingdon in November. He now has a career mark to defy in a better race, but there should be plenty more improvement in the tank after just four runs over fences. |
3:00 | Cheltenham | Outlaw Peter | Paul Nicholls useful performer looks much more the finished article this season, settling better in the early stages and cruising home alone on the bridle at Kempton and Exeter. This represents a stiffer assignment upped to a Grade 2, but he will appreciate the step up to three miles for the first time and the decent ground would be his optimum. |
3:15 | Doncaster | Fearless Action | Chris Grant’s 6-y-o remains with plenty of upside after just four career runs over hurdles, and fitness is unlikely to be an issue after over 11 months off the track (with the yard well capable of getting one ready and the booking of the excellent claimer Danny McMenamin increasing confidence). |
3:35 | Cheltenham | Nine the Terrier | Alan King’s mare caught the eye in the Greatwood here over two miles in November, racing wide throughout and briefly threatening to challenge moving smoothly into things down the hill behind I Like to Move It. That run was something of a confidence-restorer after a nasty fall, and the step back up in trip to 2m4f should suit ideally (ran really well over it when second at Newbury in April in a Grade 2 novice hurdle). |
