There is a feast of top class jump racing for ITV fans on Saturday, with Aintree and Sandown providing a thrilling mix of Graded action and some red hot and valuable handicaps. The big race of the afternoon is the Tingle Creek at Sandown at 2.55pm, with the best of Britain’s two milers sure to be locking horns (although a drying weather forecast is likely to mean that the field size is extremely small). One of the big betting races is sure to be the Becher Chase at Aintree at 2.05pm, with the Grand National fences providing a stern test of jumping and stamina for some top class staying handicappers.
In this artice:
Ashtown Lad
Aintree 2:05 (UK time)
Dan Skelton’s thorough stayer shaped well on his seasonal reappearance over hurdles here at a time when the yard was rather quiet, and he is entitled to improve for that first run in seven months. He has won 1 of his 5 starts so far over fences, and ran a screamer when fifth in the Scottish National on his final run at Ayr last season.
Odds: NA
Deise Aba
Sandown 3:30 (UK time)
Phillip Hobbs chaser has a brilliant record over the Sandown fences, and a recent pipe opener over hurdles should have put him spot on for this valuable Saturday prize. He is a sound jumper and relentless galloper who will relish the eased decent ground, and a repeat of his form here in February with Le Milos would be enough to go very close here.
Odds: NA
Odds are best odds available as at 9am December 3rd 2022. Odds may now differ.
Time (UK) | Track | Horse | Analysis |
---|---|---|---|
1:30 | Aintree | Sounds Russian | Ruth Jefferson’s progressive handicapper picked off where he left off when making a winning reappearance at Kelso last month, doing well to come from miles off the pace having been badly hampered at the first fence. He is now up into Graded company at Aintree on Saturday, but is still improving after six runs over fences and will relish the expected strong pace at this 3m1f trip. |
1:45 | Sandown | Jonbon | Nicky Henderson’s high class hurdler could not have been any more impressive when making a winning chasing debut at Warwick last month, jumping superbly duelling on a fast pace with Monmiral and trapping clean away turning for home. This track will be more about stamina than speed, but he has plenty of scope to keep on improving and his only defeat so far came when bumping into Constitution Hill in the Supreme at Cheltenham. |
2:05 | Aintree | Ashtown Lad | Dan Skelton’s thorough stayer shaped well on his seasonal reappearance over hurdles here at a time when the yard was rather quiet, and he is entitled to improve for that first run in seven months. He has won 1 of his 5 starts so far over fences, and ran a screamer when fifth in the Scottish National on his final run at Ayr last season. |
2:20 | Sandown | Love Envoi | Harry Fry places his horses carefully and has an excellent strike rate as a result, and this mare was really progressive last season in winning five of her six races over hurdles. She now starts off into handicaps after over seven months on the sidelines, but fitness is unlikely to be an issue for this valuable prize and the stiff uphill finish will suit ideally back at two miles. |
2:40 | Aintree | Elvis Mail | Nick Alexander now has his team in red hot form, and this lightly raced chaser really impressed when making a winning reappearance at Ayr in October. His jumping seems much improved these days, and he can defy a career high mark under the talented 3lb claimer Bruce Lyn |
2:55 | Sandown | Greaneteen | Paul Nicholls high class chaser has a terrific record at Sandown (three wins from five previous visits to the Esher venue), and he impressed from the front when winning the Haldon Gold Cup on his return at Exeter in November. |
3:15 | Aintree | Herbiers | Oliver Greenall’s handicapper posted a career best when winning at Newbury last month, coming from well off the pace under a confident ride, and a step back up in trip to 2m4f should be no issue with a strong pace assured to help him settle in the early stages. |
3:30 | Sandown | Deise Aba | Phillip Hobbs chaser has a brilliant record over the Sandown fences, and a recent pipe opener over hurdles should have put him spot on for this valuable Saturday prize. He is a sound jumper and relentless galloper who will relish the eased decent ground, and a repeat of his form here in February with Le Milos would be enough to go very close here. |
