There are three meetings in Britain on Monday, with competitive jumps action from Southwell and Wetherby certain to attract the vast majority of the betting activity. The drying ground has significantly reduced field sizes, although watering should mitigate the worst of the exceptionally dry spell of weather. For AW fans there is action from Wolverhampton, with the lights coming on at 5.30pm and low grade handicaps the order of the day.
In this article:
Chris Cool
Wetherby 2:05 (UK time)
Oliver Greenall has enjoyed a terrific winter so far with a promising team of young horses, and his winning hurdler is expected to get off the mark over fences at Wetherby on Monday (after posting a career best effort over three miles here last time out). A positive front-running ride is on the cards from the talented claimer Toby Wynne (dropping back in trip to 2m5f), and he should soon have these modest class 5 rivals out of their comfort zone.
Odds: NA
Gerryville
Wetherby 3:15 (UK time)
Micky Hammond’s consistent handicapper has been running really well in defeat all winter in the north, often left with plenty of ground to make up from rear under very patient rides in slightly better company. This 3m6f marathon test should be his optimum on decent ground, and the booking of Brian Hughes certainly increases confidence that he will snap a run of near-misses and give weight away round.
Odds: NA
