The cold snap continues to cause havoc with the intended jumps programme on Friday, and it is left to three all-weather tracks to keep punters and bookmakers busy throughout the afternoon and evening. Southwell stages a low grade card starting at 1.25pm, with all 7 races handicaps, while Dundalk and Kempton provide twilight action under the lights.
In this article:
La Roca del Fuego
Southwell 2:35 (UK time)
Geoffrey Deacon’s 6-y-o has an excellent strike rate on the all-weather surfaces, winning 6 of his 19 starts, and he returned to his very best form under an attacking ride from the front at Chelmsford last time out. He gets on particularly well with the 7lb claimer Rose Dawes, and another attacking ride from the stalls should have these class 4 rivals out of their comfort zone.
Odds: NA
Eleven Eleven
Southwell 3:10 (UK time)
Jessica Macey’s 4-y-o has been shaping better than the bare result since winning at Newcastle last October, and this class 6 contest looks an excellent opportunity to regain the winning thread against some pretty opposable rivals. The 3lb claimer Oliver Stammers is a very good booking for the first time, and he will be looking to weave his way through late on as the likely strong pace collapses up front (did far too much in front over 1m4f here in November after a break).
Odds: NA
