There are seven meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with competitive flat action keeping punters and bookmakers busy all through the afternoon and evening. Fixtures at Ascot, Chester, Nottingham, Ripon and Wolverhampton (AW) providing a mixture of competitive Group races, handicaps and maidens. There is NH action from Kilbeggan and Market Rasen, with their summer seasons getting off to a low key start on decent ground.

Hugo Palmer’s 3-y-o has shaped well in the frane on the all-weather on all three career starts to date, and the step up in trip to 1m4f should unlock plenty of improvement now switched to the turf at Chester on Friday. He is very much a galloper rather than a quickener, so a positive ride will be needed round these sharp turns, but the first time booking of Harry Davies increases confidence and this looks a relatively weak maiden for the track.
