There are five meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with jumping fans in for a cracking afternoon of competitive action. They have Ascot and Uttoxeter to get stuck into on decent eased ground, with some hot handicaps to solve at the Berkshire venue in particular alongside a few potential star novices from the top southern yards. AW fans have low grade action to study, with Dundalk, Southwell and Wolverhampton racing through to the evening under floodlights.

Nicky Henderson’s novice shaped as though in need of a stiffer test of stamina on his hurdling debut at Ascot in November behind Beat the Bat, and this step up to 2m5f should be ideal under Nicole de Boinville. The form of that run has been well franked by the winner running a blinder at Cheltenham next time under the penalty, and a much more positive ride is likely here with the experience under his belt.

He remains open to loads of improvement after just two runs for this yard since arriving from Ireland, and will relish a strongly run race on improving ground under Charlie Hammond (with the yard now in the winners).
