There are four scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Friday, with NH fans in for an informative afternoon as the second day of the Aintree Grand National meeting gets underway. They also have Sedgefield to study on testing ground, with some trappy handicaps to try to solve (and Donald McCain sure to be well represented). AW fans have low grade action to study at Southwell, with the lights coming on at 5.30pm and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.

Dysart Enos
Aintree 2.55 (UK time)
Fergal O’Brien’s improving mare is fancied to strike a blow for the English trainers by landing this valuable Grade 1 contest, with her freshness sure to be a real asset when the chips are down up the long Aintree straight (missed the Festival with a minor injury on the day). She was a very smart performer in bumpers and her hurdling has sharpened run to run so far over hurdles, showing a terrific turn of foot at Cheltenham in December (in a contest that has worked out very well subsequently). This represents a marked jump up in class against some useful Irish trained rivals, but she might just have too much speed for under Paddy Brennan over this extended 2m trip on soft ground.
Odds: 7.50
Kateira
Aintree 2.20 (UK time)
Dan Skelton’s progressive mare shaped well on her handicap debut at Kempton last month (strong form the grade/not seen to best effect), left with a lot to do from rear under a negative ride from Nico de Boinville. She remains with plenty of upside in this sphere after seven career starts over hurdles, and a strongly run race on soft ground over 2m4f should suit ideally (with Harry Skelton taking over in the saddle a plus and the yard going all out to try and land the trainers championship).
Odds: 13.00
