There are five scheduled meetings in Britain and Ireland on Thursday, with NH fans in for busy afternoon. They have Clonmel, Leicester, Newcastle and Sandown to study on testing ground, with some decent handicaps to try to solve at the Esher venue (and an informative Grade 2 mares contest that has attracted runners from the top yards). AW fans have lower grade action to study at Chelmsford, with the lights coming on at 5.30pm in Essex and the handicaps looking especially competitive for the time of year.

Etalon
Sandown 1.55 (UK time)
Dan Skelton’s exciting youngster has taken to chasing like a natural this winter, impressing with his fluent jumping at Newbury and Warwick (latest win by a wide margin in a match). He should relish these demanding fences at Sandown on Thursday (likely to gain ground at each obstacle against these rivals), and a positive ride from Harry Skelton can take these Class 3 opponents out of their comfort zone from an early stage.
Odds: NA
Cherie D’am
Sandown 2.30 (UK time)
This scopey mare has impressed in winning 2 of her 3 career starts over hurdles at a useful level, and the stiff finish here will really bring her proven stamina into play under Harry Skelton. She is very much an embryonic three mile chaser in the making for next season, but the testing ground should be ideal and this valuable prize looks a terrific bit of placing by her excellent yard (disappointing small field for the cash on offer).
Odds: NA
