All eyes will be on Camp Nou when Barcelona take on Sevilla in a game with major title implications. The Catalans are flying high on confidence and it begs the question ‘who can stop them?’ Barcelona can go level with Sevilla in second place and I’ve got a bet builder to go with.
In this article:
Barcelona are the team to beat right now and their form says it all. Prior to the international break, they showed their positive run of results was no fluke when they handed Real Madrid a 4-0 drubbing. The Catalans are now seeking to extend a 13-game unbeaten streak in La Liga.
Xavi’s men have won their last five league games in a row, which has seen them move to within three points of Sevilla this weekend. As for Julen Lopetegui’s side, who are in second, they are quickly losing ground on leaders Real Madrid after playing out to stalemates in their last three league outings in a row.
With Xavi Hernandez pulling the strings, Barcelona look a completely different side. Barcelona can now boast of an exciting lineup in the final third as the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ousmane Dembele, Ferran Torres and Adama Traore have hit top gear in recent weeks.

The reverse fixture in December ended 1-1 but the fortunes of both sides have changed since and the hosts are well in the ascendency. For this game against Sevilla, it is tempting to go with the goal market, given that the stats fully support this. Barcelona have scored four goals in four of the last five La Liga fixtures, including against rivals and league leaders Real Madrid.
Their goal-scoring abilities will be tested to the maximum though as they take on a Sevilla side with the best defensive record in the division. That doesn’t stop Barcelona from being the clear favourites to win though.
Coupled with the fact Sevilla are draw specialists and hold the joint-current record of 12 draws in the league so far this season, one can sense that they will see a point as a good result against a side in top form.
Sevilla are also unbeaten in their last six games, but three of their most recent games have ended in draws, showing a slight contrast to their hosts. While I don’t see Barcelona putting four past Sevilla, I still see the Catalans coming out on top as well as the visitors nicking a goal of their own as well.
Barcelona are favourites to win this one and I strongly expect them to see this one through on home territory. Sevilla will come as no easy fry and I still expect the visitors to put on a good show. It would likely be an all-round attacking game, leading to my pick for corners.
It won’t be wrong to back Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting a goal or two. In the event he fails to get on the scoresheet though, you can expect he’ll be closely knocking on the door. The Gabonese forward has been Barcelona’s first scorer in three of his four La Liga scoring games, with the team eventually scoring four goals in each match.

A bet builder is a kind of accumulator bet solely focussed on one match. A standard acca features multiple selections across different selections combined together into one bet. If one selection loses, the whole bet loses. A bet builder is similar but each selection is placed on the same match. Similar to the American prop bet, the bet builder goes into detail on a single match. Common selections include match outcome, total goals, cards, corners, and players to score.
